About Us

Learning is a process of active engagement with experience. It is what we do when we want to make sense of the world. It may involve the development or deepening of skills, knowledge, understanding, awareness, values, ideas and feelings, or an increase in the capacity to reflect. Effective learning leads to change, development and the desire to learn more.

he Campaign for Learning's definition of learning

How can we achieve a lifelong learning society?

That's the question that lies at the heart of all of our work, whether it's a policy roundtable, a webinar on learning psychology or a large scale research programme. Through our activities and partnerships we share our thinking and develop our understanding on how to engage more people in learning through life.
The case for lifelong learning is well established. We are likely to be healthier, happier, longer living and wealthier if we are active learners. We benefit as individuals, but learning beyond school also has wide ranging and immeasurable benefits for our families and communities, our working lives, society and the economy.

We champion lifelong learning at a national level. We work with partners and collaborate on initiatives of all scales to test new approaches and generate new conversations and ideas about lifelong learning. We share the findings and research.
